The councilors of the Popular Party in Teguise, Jonás Álvarez and Paloma Fernández, have registered a motion to the municipal plenary session to request that the Municipal Library be named after Nieves Castillo Bonilla, Nievitas "as all the neighbors affectionately knew her", and who recently passed away.

In the argumentation of their proposal, the popular ones point out "the dedication and commitment to others that Nieves always demonstrated, who, from a very young age, and for more than forty years, was teaching hundreds of boys and girls to read and write in her own home." "Several generations were intoxicated by the joy and humility of a woman who gathered all the necessary qualities to love and be loved by the children of the time," they say.

The spokesperson for the PP in Teguise, Jonás Álvarez, also highlights Nieves' love for the theater for more than 60 years, which began when she was barely 10 years old with Esperanza Spínola. "She gave catechism classes, rehearsed the May verses or the Christmas verses and from the first moment she supported the creation of the Polyphonic Choir of the Villa", recalls Álvarez.

But if there is an activity to which "Nievitas gave herself body and soul, it was the Municipal Library, of which she was appointed manager in 1977", they highlight from the PP. "She was one who always had an answer for all those who came to the library in search of a book or simply to chat about their memories and experiences", says Jonás Álvarez, who defends that "her life trajectory and her commitment to education and the culture of Teguise more than justify that the Library to which she was always so united bears her name".
