The Popular Party of Tías regrets and denounces the "serious situation" that the municipal cemetery is going through as a direct consequence of "the neglect and lack of foresight of the government team made up of PSOE and Podemos." "After years of warnings and ignored proposals, the inefficient management of the coalition has led them to take a desperate and drastic measure: build new niches on existing tombs, forcing the exhumation of corpses, which generates a deep unease in the families affected."
In addition, according to one of the families, "they were not warned of this exhumation" and "they have encountered this situation unexpectedly."
For almost three years, the Popular Party has been warning of the imminent lack of space in the cemetery. "Already in January 2022, a motion was presented for the City Council to initiate the procedures for acquiring the necessary land for its expansion." The government itself then recognized the need to act urgently and voted in favor of the proposal, assuring that topographical surveys had been carried out and contact had been made with the owners of the adjoining land. However, to this day the expansion works have not begun.
This Thursday, "as a consequence of this total lack of foresight and incompetence of the municipal officials, we are facing an extreme situation that directly affects the families of the municipality." "The PSOE and Podemos Government has decided, as a solution, to build new niches on the already occupied tombs, forcing the exhumation of bodies that have been resting in peace for years." "This not only implies an emotional and social grievance for the relatives, but also affects those bodies that possibly remain unidentified, generating uncertainty and pain."
Francisco Aparicio, president of the local committee of the PP of Tías, has expressed his indignation: "It is unacceptable that, after so long, the municipal government has led us to such a desperate situation. Not only have they ignored our warnings, but now they force families to relive unnecessary pain. This could have been avoided with serious and responsible management. I think it is a lack of respect for the residents of Tías, especially towards the affected families," he lamented.
The Popular Party demands that the government group "urgently begin the expansion works of the cemetery and stop subjecting families to this type of suffering." In addition, they urge them to "act with the responsibility that is expected in the management of such a delicate matter as the rest of our loved ones."
