The Popular Party of Tías denounces that the Government Group of the City Council of Tías (PSOE, LAVA and LEP-Podemos), chaired by the socialist José Juan Cruz, "has once again incurred in an alleged environmental attack on the occasion of the recent celebration of the night of the bonfires of San Juan, which serves to welcome the summer season."

For more than a decade, the City Council of Tías has been organizing the lighting of the municipal bonfire in Bajamar street in Puerto del Carmen, but on this occasion the tripartite government saw fit to promote, in addition to the aforementioned bonfire, another meeting point between neighbors for the celebration of this night of San Juan, specifically, in the vicinity of Montaña La Tegala, in the town of Tías.

However, after the launch of this second bonfire, promoted by the Department of Roads and Works, "managed by the missing councilor Mame Fernández, several neighbors who passed through the place have approached the Popular Group of the City Council of Tías to convey their complaints about the bad smells and the permanence of the materials used to light this bonfire," say the popular ones.

“There are many neighbors who do not understand that it is precisely the Institution itself, the City Council of Tías itself, that does not lead by example in such relevant issues as respect for the Environment and sustainability”, comment the popular councilors in Tías, to whom these neighbors have sent several images – that accompany this information - to make their complaint public.

Thus, as the Popular Group in Tías has been able to verify, this year the municipal Government Group has promoted another bonfire in Montaña de La Tegala, in which all kinds of flammable, toxic and harmful materials for the Environment have been used, apart from the usual wood that is burned every night of San Juan. These are materials that should never be burned or used since they are highly flammable and harmful to nature. With this, "it is the tripartite government of Tías itself that has incurred in an alleged environmental crime, completely ignoring the municipal decree created for the regulation of this activity," they maintain from the PP.

“Despite the fact that the Department of Roads and Works has promoted the initiative of a second municipal bonfire with great fanfare, they are not capable nor have they deigned, two days after the night of San Juan, to clean up the remains of the bonfire, which was still burning this Saturday afternoon due to the variety of waste and materials used in it”, allege from the PP
