The mayor of Arrecife, Ástrid Pérez, and the Councilor for Citizen Participation, Eli Merino, presented this Thursday, February 9, the preliminary draft for the complete transformation of the Arrecife Theme Park, with which it is intended to provide the city with a large space where you can carry out sports and outdoor leisure activities.
Astrid Pérez stated that “a few months before the elections we can say that Arrecife has begun the transformation of the city, we have fulfilled what we have promised and the theme park was not going to be an exception, as it is one of the most important in Lanzarote and we are working on its transformation.”
For her part, Eli Merino, highlighted that “it has not been a project only of the Government Group since at all times we have been in contact with the citizens through meetings with groups and associations to find out what they demanded in this park.”
During the presentation, the mayor of Arrecife was "excited" about the new appearance that this space will present “which we want to give a total change to turn it into the park for meeting and coexistence, in order that all the people of Arrecife can come together here, who will have at their disposal different open and outdoor spaces to have fun, play or practice some type of sport or healthy activity, or for family, neighborhood or between friends”.
Equipment
In a special way, and as the main novelty, highlight the future construction of a calisthenics park, the fourth in Arrecife (in 2019 there were zero calisthenics parks). It will measure 935 square meters and you can practice outdoor sports safely and comfortably.
Also the installation of a space of 1,126 square meters where you can hold outdoor movie sessions to enjoy the good climate of Arrecife.
Installation of a children's sports area of 1,042 square meters with multi-sports courts where you can play sports outdoors with total security.
A new skatepark area of 2,200 square meters with new elements, a new U walride or different inclined planes.
As a distinctive feature, the theme park will include a walkable ground fountain of 955 square meters with sprinklers in the ground designed to get wet and cool off on hot days, which is a plus and another attraction of this Park.
There will also be a picnic area of 930 square meters equipped with different furniture and important shaded areas.
And finally, the theme park will have a Pump Track area along the park that will function as a common thread so that cyclists, pedestrians or skaters can travel.
A work in a united and coordinated manner with the citizens
Likewise, Astrid Pérez thanked the great work carried out by the councilor Eli Merino in the area of Youth and Citizen Participation with whom she has carried out, she said, “a work in a united and coordinated manner.”
With this project, the Arrecife City Council wants to "expand the equipment endowments of the city of Arrecife to bring leisure and sports closer to the population and optimize public spaces, giving them greater functionality and thus responding to the commitment acquired with the residents of Arrecife to carry out works for recreational and coexistence spaces."
“The project is already being drafted and our objective is to be able to complete all the procedures so that the works can begin at the beginning of 2024”, said Astrid Pérez.
