The Tinajo Renewal Movement (MRT) has once again publicly denounced the "lack of definitive solutions" to the problems of recurrent flooding in various parts of the municipality whenever it rains, which repeatedly forces the intervention of emergency services.
The spokesperson and councilor for the MRT, Antonio Morales, has recalled that his party "has repeatedly asked the Tinajo Government to act to correct these deficiencies, without effective measures having been taken to date." "From the MRT, we have asked the Tinajo Government on several occasions to take action in those areas that flood and are affected by water every time it rains. They have told us they are working on it, but we don't see the solution."
Antonio Morales lamented that, "while the necessary actions do not arrive, reality continues to repeat itself with each episode of rain". "What we do see is flooded and cut-off roads to prevent accidents, and every time it rains, the firefighters have to act to pump out the water."
As an example, the MRT spokesperson pointed to the **Avenida de los Volcanes, near the Guiguan School**, a road that is regularly affected by rain. "The Avenida de los Volcanes, near the Guiguan School, is a road that frequently floods. That road is the responsibility of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, and for that reason, we have also asked the Tinajo Government to contact the Cabildo so that these areas can be corrected and incidents and accidents avoided."Morales stressed that "this is not an isolated case, but a widespread problem in different parts of the municipality." "There are several areas in the municipality, such as the cemetery road, Vega de las Flores street, the La Santa road opposite the teleclub, among others, or rural roads where ravines cross and which are destroyed every time it rains, also forcing the intervention of the firefighters."
From the Tinajo Renewal Movement, they insist on the need for the competent administrations to "act with urgency and coordination to put an end to this situation." "From the MRT, we urge the Government of Tinajo and the Cabildo to take this matter seriously and adopt the appropriate measures. It cannot be that these things drag on forever."
The municipal group concludes by demanding "structural solutions and adequate planning that avoids the repetition of these incidents, improves road safety, and reduces the constant reliance on emergency actions every time it rains in the municipality".
