What started as a hobby has become a way of life for Lanzarote photographer Juan Méndez, who has already seen six of his photographs published in the prestigious National Geographic. "I haven't studied, but with time, little by little and on my own, I consider that I have learned a lot, although I still have a lot to learn and improve," says Méndez when recalling his beginnings in front of the lens.

This is how Méndez is described in multiple interviews that different media in Lanzarote, the Canary Islands, and Spain have published in recent weeks.

Méndez, a resident of Arrecife, has been received by the mayor of the capital of Lanzarote, Yonathan de León Machín, in an official reception to convey recognition and congratulations for the great external projection that he is giving to Lanzarote through his extraordinary photographs.

Recently, this meeting was held at the Arrecife City Hall, in which the Councilor for Culture and Education of the Arrecife City Council, Abigaíl González, was also present.

Within the program of the San Ginés festivities, this Friday, August 11, an exhibition of his photographs with a theme dedicated to Arrecife will be inaugurated. This exhibition will be present in the José Ramírez Cerdá Park and the opening will be attended by the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León Machín, the Councilor for Culture and Education, Abigaíl González, and Juan Méndez. The photographer received the commission from the Arrecife City Council for this exhibition.

During the official reception, Juan Méndez received a book about the history of Arrecife as a gift from the capital's mayor.
