The postal vote for the General Elections to be held on Sunday, November 29, 2026, can now be requested.
Eligible voters who decide to vote by mail can request, until November 19 (inclusive), the Certificate of their registration in the corresponding Electoral Roll. Obtaining this certificate is a mandatory requirement to be able to cast a postal vote and can be requested, via the internet through the website or in person at any Correos office in Spain.
Online request for postal vote
Electors can request their vote through the Correos website (www.correos.es), without having to go in person to a post office. In this application model, which avoids travel, the interested party must prove their identity by electronic signature and the certificates of natural persons recognized by the Ministry of Industry and the electronic DNI (DNI-e) are accepted as valid identification systems.
Postal vote request at offices
The postal vote request can be made at all Correos offices in Spain. This request must be made personally by each elector, except in cases of illness or disability – proven by official medical certification – that prevent them from making the request personally. In this case, it can be submitted on behalf of the elector by another person authorized by notary or consular means.
At the time of making the request, interested parties must prove their identity by presenting their original DNI, Passport, or driver's license to the postal office employee.
With the aim of streamlining procedures and avoiding waiting times, the company offers the option of prior appointment for requesting votes at offices, through the app, the Correos website, or the Virtual Office. To do this, the elector only needs to select the available office with a prior appointment and, finally, choose the day and time that best suits them.
Correos will deliver the requests received to the Provincial Delegations of the Electoral Roll Office, who will send the necessary documentation to the applicants, starting November 9, so that they can exercise their postal vote.
It is reminded that those who request the postal vote will receive that documentation at the address indicated in the application, which does not have to coincide with their usual residence.
The deadline for depositing the vote by mail will end on November 25, 2026.
