The Councilor for Police of Arrecife, David Duarte, has announced that the City Council will soon have a drone for "carrying out technical work with the latest technology." According to the mayor, in this way the Local Police will become "the first in the Canary Islands to have an instrument of these characteristics."
The mayor of the city, Eva de Anta, has stated that "the advantages of a drone are endless, from fire prevention to weather control, including surveillance matters. These conferences will allow for greater information to offer the best security in our city."
The councilor has expressed his satisfaction with the work carried out by the Local Police for "having a drone with the best technology. This can be used for rescues, locating boats or fire spots." He also detailed that the drone will be presented to the media when it is already on the island. In the Local Police, four agents have drone pilot certification and one of them is an authorized operator.

Duarte made this announcement at the presentation of the 1st Drone Intervention Conference organized by the Local Police. The conference will take place this Thursday at the Municipal Archive of Arrecife in two sessions: from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It is aimed at security forces and bodies, port police and rural guards, all with free registration.
Marcos Rosario, local police officer, instructor and drone operator, pointed out that "the conferences held in Arrecife aim to explain the current regulations for use, as well as specify the prohibited, dangerous and restricted areas for using these devices."
For his part, Duarte added that "the laws are being broken more and more, these presentations will be informative and advisory."
