The Local Police of Arrecife has acquired for its devices the TruCAM II, a state-of-the-art radar to face road safety problems in the capital, such as speeding and illegal racing, major causes of vehicle overturning in the city.
During yesterday, the Local Police began training agents for the use of the new radar. In these days, tests will be carried out with it, to put it into operation regularly at the beginning of 2021.
The TruCAM II is one of the best speedometers on the market, more compact, less visible and with a very small margin of error. The radar, with laser technology, can clearly capture vehicles at a distance of up to 150 meters. In addition, it can measure two lanes in opposite directions simultaneously.
Mayor Aatrid Pérez has advanced that this new acquisition of this sophisticated radar is integrated into the Plan to gradually incorporate new and more means to the Local Police Force, which lack them. Along with the recent incorporation of 8 new agents and a sub-commissioner, the first mayor highlights that the means for the Local Police are already beginning to arrive. New vehicles and equipment, new communication systems, printers, and future headquarters, and now this radar so that the speed in the capital of Lanzarote can be controlled more effectively.
The mayor specified that in 2020 new means will arrive for the Local Police so that they can continue to do their job better, as requested by the citizens.
“It is a great advance that the Local Police can have this type of latest generation tools, which help us reduce accidents on our urban road, improve pedestrian safety and dissolve illegal races that occur at night”, stressed the first deputy mayor and councilor of the Local Police, José Alfredo Mendoza.
