The Island Water Council of Lanzarote has sanctioned two companies for minor administrative infractions in relation to the treatment and discharge of treated water. The sanctions are directed at the companies responsible for the Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) of Las Cabreras and the Julio Santiago Obesa Psychosocial Rehabilitation Unit.

In the first case, the file was initiated due to a "minor" administrative infraction for not submitting the mandatory analyses of treated water for the first four months of the year. In total, the company Mimara Residencial SL, responsible for the management contract of the elderly care centers in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, has voluntarily paid 480 euros, out of the 601 euros in sanctions initially imposed.

Meanwhile, in the case of the Julio Santiago Obesa WWTP, this sanctioning file is initiated against Lanzcia S.C.P. for exceeding "the maximum admissible values" in January and February and for not submitting the analyses for March and April.

In total, the Island Water Consortium has proposed a sanction of 601 euros, which was finally reduced to 480 euros due to voluntary payment.

In the decree, the Island Water Council has also requested the company to issue an explanatory report on the results of the January and February analyses, as well as to repeat those for March and April. Thus, the document states that voluntary payment does not exempt the company from fulfilling its contractual responsibilities.
