The San Bartolomé City Council begins this week the improvement works of the Amparo Rodríguez Municipal Infant School, a public educational center aimed at girls and boys aged 0 to 3 in the municipality, with a total investment of 110,000 euros with the council's own funds and an estimated execution period of two months.
The action contemplates the creation of a new playground specifically designed for this first stage of childhood, with elements adapted to their motor and sensory development, as well as the installation of safety flooring that guarantees an accessible, inclusive, and safe environment.
In addition, the project includes a substantial improvement of the shade areas both in the new park and in the center's outdoor patio, which will allow optimizing the use of these outdoor spaces throughout the year, especially in the months of greater sun exposure.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, has highlighted that “this action responds to the firm commitment of this City Council to public education and to the well-being of our families. Investing in early childhood is investing in the future of our municipality. We want our boys and girls to grow up in safe, modern spaces adapted to their needs.”
For her part, the Councillor for Education, Estefanía Luzardo, has stressed that “the zero to three years stage is fundamental in emotional, social, and cognitive development. With this new park and the improvement of the shaded areas, we guarantee not only greater safety, but also better conditions for outdoor play and learning.”
In the same vein, the Councillor for Urban Planning, Marlene Romero, has pointed out that “from the Urban Planning department we work to ensure that each municipal intervention complies with quality, functionality, and sustainability criteria. This work has been planned to offer a space adapted to current regulations and specifically designed for early childhood.”
With the start of these works, the City Council "reaffirms its commitment to the continuous improvement of municipal educational infrastructures and to the strengthening of essential services that favor the reconciliation of family and work life in San Bartolomé".
