Efe.- The Council of Ministers yesterday authorized the City Council of San Bartolomé, in Lanzarote, to hold a popular consultation on the possibility of it being renamed "San Bartolomé de Ajey."

According to the provisions of article 71 of the Regulatory Law of the Bases of Local Regime of 1975, the Government gives its approval to the consultation, considering that all the requirements demanded by the Law are met.

According to information from the Executive, this has also been favorably informed by the Cabildo of Lanzarote, in accordance with the provisions of the Statute of Autonomy of the Canary Islands.

Precisely days ago the mayor of San Bartolomé, Miguel Martín, was confident in this same medium to achieve that desired referendum that gives rise to the true name of the municipality.
