The Public Works area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, directed by Jacobo Medina, has launched the rehabilitation works of the Wind Toy in honor of Pepín Rodríguez, an emblematic work by César Manrique that has been part of the landscape of the Lanzarote airport.

These tasks, which are being carried out in the Cabildo's Mobile Park, will restore its splendor and ensure its conservation for future generations.

“This piece is a symbol of our identity and represents the link between art, wind and landscape that César Manrique so defended. With this rehabilitation, we want to guarantee that it remains a cultural and aesthetic reference on the island,” said the councilor.

The restoration process includes cleaning, structural repair and repainting of the Wind Toy, ensuring that it recovers its original dynamism and continues to beautify the environment. The intervention is being supervised by heritage conservation experts and is expected to be completed in the coming months.

The Cabildo de Lanzarote "reaffirms its commitment to the protection and restoration of the island's artistic and cultural legacy, ensuring that works like this continue to be part of the island's landscape and keep alive the essence of Lanzarote's identity."

“Soon, both tourists and residents who pass through the César Manrique - Lanzarote airport will be able to see this characteristic toy in the entrance roundabout,” Medina concluded.
