The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium is organizing a new edition of the prevention campaign This summer, safe dip, with the aim of reducing and preventing accidents in the beaches, coasts and pools of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. The initiative will take place in each municipality, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and is promoted by the Consortium itself and in collaboration with the MAPFRE Canarias Foundation.

The start of this activity took place at the CEIP María Auxiliadora, in the town of Montaña Blanca. The event was attended by the president of the Security and Emergency Consortium, Francisco J. Aparicio; the Councilor for Security and Emergencies of San Bartolomé, Mamadou Yero, and the head of prevention of the MAPFRE Canarias Foundation, Laura Ojeda.

The head of the area, Francisco Javier Aparicio, explains the different activities that will be carried out for the protection and care of citizens in these natural spaces. "People who participate will acquire basic notions of drowning prevention and will participate in different basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training workshops and PAS behavior (Protect, Warn and Help protocol)," he details.

Laura Ojeda, for her part, assured that the MAPFRE Canarias Foundation continues to collaborate with this project "because it is essential to explain to young people, during the summer, the importance of maintaining preventive measures that guarantee a safe summer."

"From this corporation we want both residents and visitors to be able to enjoy our coastline, being aware of the dangers and the help they themselves can provide. This is a ninth edition that will teach how to proceed until professionals arrive at the scene of the accident," says Francisco Javier Aparicio.

The workshops will be taught by the technical instructor of Emergencies and Civil Protection of the Directorate of the Lanzarote Health Area, Benjamín Nieves, with the help and collaboration of the Red Cross and the volunteers of the municipal civil protection groups.

The action has been carried out in collaboration with the MAPFRE Canarias Foundation, the Lanzarote Health Area, the Island Council, Civil Protection Canarias and the Red Cross.

The dates and beaches that this prevention campaign will cover are in San Bartolomé on July 3; in Tinajo on July 10; in Tías on July 24; in Haría on July 31; in Teguise on August 7; in La Graciosa on August 14; in Arrecife on August 21 and in Yaiza on August 28.
