Lanzarote has 376 people from countries outside the European Union with the right to vote in the upcoming municipal elections

The Central Electoral Board (JEC) has decided to extend by one day the deadline for depositing postal votes for the municipal and regional elections, which will end next Thursday, May 25.

The JEC reported this Friday that it has approved "a proposal sent to it by Correos that the deposit of the vote can be made until the 25th during the usual opening hours of its offices," EFE reports.

"To this end, the State Postal and Telegraph Society must exercise extreme diligence to ensure that the envelopes with the vote can be delivered on the day of the vote to the respective polling stations, within the legally established deadlines," the JEC indicated in the agreement, which was adopted at its meeting last Thursday.

At that meeting, the Electoral Board also agreed to "accede to the request of the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030 for the accessible voting kits to reach the homes of applicants for the elections to regional parliaments that coincide with the municipal elections in twelve communities," says the Agency.

The JEC approves it "to the extent that the competent autonomous communities have the appropriate material and that there is no material or regulatory obstacle to its use" and "will transfer it to the electoral boards of the autonomous community and corresponding provinces," he concludes.
