The courts have forced the mayor of Arrecife to hand over the documentation of the Ginory scandal to the socialist municipal group, after the mayor tried to sabotage access to the case linked to the PP, and even dared to tell the public that "justice was on his side." "It was incredible to see Yonathan saying that in a democracy the judges supported the opposition having access to public municipal documents," says Cristina, a PSOE councilor in the Arrecife City Council.
"And since Astrid Pérez put a lock on the most disastrous operation in the city's history, it has not been possible to access the file, neither with questions in the plenary session nor by requesting information through legal means." Finally, the PSOE had to make the decision to go to court "to access the file, and to see what the PP has done with this land and its owner friends in recent times."
"The PP has used public funds to oppose giving us the information in court, appointing a lawyer, solicitor, etc." The judicial procedure for fundamental rights was won in judgment no. 188/2024, of August 8, 2014, issued by the Contentious-Administrative Court No. 6 of Las Palmas, dismissing the PP's appeal, which reads as follows: "the Corporation (...) must provide the applicant (the PSOE) with direct access to the file or deliver the requested information. The General Secretariat, furthermore, may not oppose any exception (...)"
"By virtue of this judgment, from the Socialist Group we have access to the Ginory information, which we will begin to study in great detail, seeking to answer many unanswered questions."
Regarding the news that claimed that the courts were on their side, Cristina Duque: "The Mayor of Arrecife lied when he said that justice was on his side by hiding the information about the Ginory scandal, and we have the feeling that it will not be the only judicial setback."
