The Teguise City Council has granted this Thursday the license for the execution of a new asphalt paving project in Costa Teguise, with an investment of 650,000 euros, which will allow for the improvement of the road surface on Buganvillas street and its cross streets, located in the area below the golf course.
This action is part of the municipal strategy for the progressive renewal of roads, promoted by the governing group, with the aim of improving the safety, accessibility, and quality of the streets in all areas of the municipality, both in Costa Teguise and in the Villa and the inland villages
The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, stated that "this license reflects a way of governing based on planning and attention to the real needs of the citizens, and although we know that many streets in the municipality require urgent improvements, we are moving forward with a clear and orderly plan that reaches all the towns. Teguise cannot be understood without its towns, and this government has a firm commitment to ensuring that municipal management is felt in each of them," Duque affirmed.
The Costa Teguise project joins the actions already carried out in the historic center of Villa de Teguise, where a Paving Plan was recently developed covering more than 15,440 square meters, improving accessibility and road safety in the central streets of the municipality. Likewise, the City Council has initiated the contracting process for a paving plan that will act in the towns of Mozaga, Muñique, Soo, Tao, and Tiagua, as well as in the northern areas of the municipality, such as Guatiza, Los Cocoteros, and Tahíche, prioritizing long roads and those with high symbolic value for their residents.
In this regard, the Councilor for Roads and Works, Eugenio Robayna, highlighted that the City Council's Asphalt Plan "is progressing at a good pace and with a global vision of the municipality." "In recent months, asphalt paving has been carried out in Villa de Teguise and Costa Teguise, and we will continue to incorporate new actions throughout the municipality," explained Robayna.
The governing group emphasizes that in recent years, nearly 8 million euros have been allocated to new asphalt pavements, financed mainly with the municipality's own surplus funds and with the collaboration of other administrations, such as the Cabildo de Lanzarote, which reinforces "the priority that the Teguise City Council gives to the improvement of its road network."
The Teguise City Council will continue to inform citizens about the start and progress of the works, with the aim of minimizing inconvenience and ensuring an orderly execution of the tasks.
