The Chinija Summer Creative University, promoted by the Biosphere Reserve of Lanzarote and the Department of Culture of the Arrecife City Council, has concluded for the second consecutive year, and the parties involved – families, artists and dynamizers and public institutions - have expressed their satisfaction with the fulfillment of the objectives linked to the initiative.
The three fortnights in which the project has been divided to reach the largest number of beneficiary families have completed their registrations; in this way, throughout the months of July and August, 66 boys and girls have enjoyed mornings full of activities related to the arts, knowledge of the environment, recycling, music, dance and stories, among others.
For his part, the Councilor of the Biosphere Reserve, Samuel Martín, points out that it is his intention to continue with new editions of the Chinija Summer University. As he indicated: “it is surprising how the little ones understand, incorporate and transmit in their homes behaviors that are more necessary than ever for coexistence and the preservation of nature. Investing in childhood is investing in the future.”
The Chinija University has been carried out in two different points of the city, the municipal Archive of Arrecife and the socio-cultural center of Argana Baja, in order to facilitate accessibility and assistance. The program of leisure proposals, coordinated by the company Tágora and developed by professionals from various creative disciplines, has been offered equally in the three shifts and has been welcomed each time with the same enthusiasm by the attendees, minors between 6 and 12 years old with a great desire to have fun and make new friends.
