The 20 candidates for Miss Arrecife and Queen of the San Ginés 2010 Festivities went this Wednesday with the director of the Election Gala, Willie Díaz, to the Parish of San Ginés to participate in the offering for the most needy in the municipality. The young women deposited bags of food before the image of the patron saint of Arrecife.

Chickpeas, lentils, rice, cans and, in general, non-perishable products made up the bags of food that these 20 young women left at the foot of the altar of the capital's church, so that the parish priest Miguel Hernández could proceed to distribute these foods among the most needy in the municipality. In addition, the girls wanted to stay a few minutes next to the patron saint to ask for their families and for that upcoming contest, in which they seek to "live an experience and, above all, establish a good friendship with their colleagues."

The girls later took the opportunity to move to the nearby Calle Real de Arrecife and visit the shops in the main open commercial area of the capital. Later, in the afternoon, the contestants planned a rehearsal at the Fairgrounds, the place where the Election Gala will be held, on Saturday, August 14, at 9:30 p.m.

Within the extensive journey of these young women before the beauty contest, this Thursday, the 12th, they will make a nocturnal 'getaway' to the venues on José Antonio Street, as well as several rehearsals at the Fairgrounds. For its part, on Friday, at 9:30 p.m., the Pre-Gala for the election of Miss Congeniality, Miss Photogenic and Miss Elegance will take place in the halls of the Arrecife Gran Hotel, the official residence of these young women throughout this week, which will give way on Saturday to the Election Gala and the end of the contest.

Visit to the City Hall

It should be remembered that the mayor of Arrecife, Cándido Reguera Díaz, and the Councilor for Festivities, Eduardo Lasso, accompanied by the councilors Ángela Hernández, Gabriel González and Víctor San Ginés, received these 20 candidates this Tuesday at the capital's City Hall. In this meeting with the municipal authorities, the first official act of the candidates for Miss Arrecife and Queen of the San Ginés 2010 Festivities, the young women expressed their enthusiasm for the imminent beauty contest.

The councilors gave the 20 young aspirants, as well as Natalia Duque, Queen of the San Ginés 2009 Festivities, and Sara García, Miss Arrecife 2009, a gift as a souvenir of their time in the capital's Consistory.
