The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands announced this Thursday that it will soon draft the expansion project of the Secondary Education Institute (IES) En Altavista, in Arrecife (Lanzarote).

The project, which responds to the population growth of Altavista and a growing educational demand, will include the construction of a classroom building and a sports hall, which will not only serve educational purposes, but will also serve to promote physical and sports activity in the neighborhood.

The announcement comes after the recent visit to the center by the head of the department, Poli Suárez; the general director of Educational Infrastructure and Equipment, Iván González, and the Lanzarote parliamentarian of the Canarian Nationalist Group Cristina Calero, who last February had requested the realization of said visit in the Education Commission of the Parliament of the Canary Islands.

"The expansion of the IES reflects the determination of the Government of the Canary Islands when addressing the educational needs of Lanzarote neglected in the previous legislature", according to its promoters.
