"It is the way the Cabildo has to distribute investment and wealth among the population of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, thus economically supporting the efforts made by many families to cover the studies," said Ascensión Toledo

The Island Government Council of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, chaired by Oswaldo Betancort, in a new initiative that affects support for educational promotion, has approved in its meeting this Monday the Bases that will regulate the next calls for aid to the displacement of students residing in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, who must travel to public and private centers outside their island of habitual residence - whether to the Canary Islands or the rest of Spain - to carry out Higher Professional Training (CFGS), University Degree or Master's studies; all necessarily official.

The Councilor for Education of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Ascensión Toledo, has detailed that the activity that underlies these aids are air or sea trips, in tourist class, carried out by resident students during the course established in each call. "It is the way the Cabildo has to distribute investment and wealth among the population of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, thus economically supporting the efforts made by many families to cover the studies of their sons and daughters far from home," says the councilor.

In addition, Ascensión Toledo has clarified that these aids are compatible with other subsidies, aids, income or resources for the same purpose from any Administration, public or private entities, national, from the European Union or international organizations. "And they are also compatible with the general call for scholarships made each year by the Cabildo de Lanzarote itself," she says.

Travel tickets

These aids will cover study trips made in the period between August 1 of the year set in each call and July 31 of the following year.

Tickets may be purchased prior to these periods, provided that the journeys take place between the dates mentioned above.

Likewise, the bases approved this Monday by the Governing Council explain that the concession procedure will be processed under a non-competitive concurrence regime and a single concession resolution will be issued, in which the aids to be granted and denied will be recorded.

"From the Cabildo de Lanzarote we consider it an obligation in our Government management to introduce new initiatives in society that serve to mitigate the double insularity that we suffer due to our archipelago condition; and these displacement aids are located in our line of work," concluded the Councilor for Education, Ascensión Toledo.
