The Cabildo of Lanzarote has just launched a public tender for a new work to improve the public lighting installation of the LZ-2 road and the necessary underground pipelines, in the section between kilometer points 0.5 and 3.5; that is, between the towns of Arrecife and Playa Honda.
The president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, points out that "this new action, which will involve an investment of almost 534,000 euros co-financed by the first Corporation and the FDCAN Funds, will improve the energy efficiency of the public lighting of this road, also achieving significant savings in consumption".
Currently, the Cabildo points out that the lighting of this road is "quite obsolete, since it consists of light points with high-pressure sodium vapor technology that are very inefficient in terms of energy saving." "The objective of this action," as pointed out by the Minister of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, "is to replace fifty double points, opting for LED technology, also equipped with electronic equipment that allows point-to-point remote management."
"In addition, and due to the current needs of this road," adds Medina, "the lighting will also be expanded with the installation of 12 double and 22 single points also with LED technology, which not only allows saving on consumption, but also reduces light pollution on this road."
In this sense, the expected energy saving with the execution of this project will be 44,004.40 Kwh/year and the reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere will be 43.16 T CO2. Companies interested in bidding for this work can submit their offers until December 28 on the island Cabildo's bidding portal.
