The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Public Works, managed by Jacobo Medina, has put out to tender, through a simplified open procedure, the works to adapt the facilities of the old paddock of Puerto del Carmen, located at Calle Anzuelo nº 56, to transform it into a public parking building with 65 spaces, two of them reserved for people with reduced mobility.
The works have a base bidding budget amounting to 127,325.51 euros, from the first Corporation's own funds and included in the Island Plan for Investment in Works in Municipalities. "The action," explains Medina, "aims to provide this building, currently used for the deposit of municipal vehicles, with the appropriate facilities to convert it into a public car park, which will largely alleviate the great demand for parking spaces in this tourist town."
"To this end," stresses the councillor, "the building will be equipped with electrical, fire-fighting, ventilation and electric vehicle recharging facilities, and a public pedestrian access will be built, independent of the existing vehicular access."
The action, which has an execution period of 5 months, also includes the construction of a stairwell that will connect the car park with the square on the upper part, thus complying with the regulations for the evacuation of buildings in case of fire.
