The Cabildo of Lanzarote presented this Monday the campaign 'Because we are all important, Recycle', developed in collaboration with Ecoembes, Ecovidrio and Urbaser.
The event was attended by the Councilor for Waste of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Hugo Delgado, and the delegate and manager of Urbaser in Lanzarote, Jordi López, who explained the objectives of a campaign that seeks to continue raising awareness among the population and promote data on recycling in the Island.
In this regard, Delgado pointed out that, from the Department of Waste, "we are very proud, since the recycling data are excellent and demonstrate awareness, responsibility and civic-mindedness on the part of the population." However, the councilor warned that "we must not lower our guard and continue along these lines to demonstrate to our inhabitants and tourists that our environment is important and that sustainability and care for the environment is our priority."

"Today we present this campaign, with which, together with Ecoembes, Urbaser and Ecovidrio, we will try to reach each of you with a dissemination in the media, reminding you that the care of our Island and the well-being of future generations depends on us, hence our objective of raising awareness through educational centers," explained the councilor.
"In these times of pandemic we must be more united than ever. In the context of global warming and the search for ways to save resources and CO2 emissions, recycling helps us optimize resources. I am aware that at present our concern has shifted and focused on the health alert, but precisely at this time, climate change must be more than ever, our immediate challenge and urgency," he added.
"Lanzarote is an example in energy efficiency and recycling measures. Something we achieve when there is a true coordination between institutions and population," he concluded.
The delegate and manager of Urbaser in Lanzarote, Jordi López, thanked the Cabildo for its willingness to develop this campaign, as well as the population for promoting the good recycling data on the Island. In the last year, among all the inhabitants of Lanzarote we have recycled more than eight million kilos of packaging on the Island, which have been transferred to recycling plants and making this a more sustainable place.
