The Cabildo of Lanzarote has conveyed in a press release its "support" to the entity Adislan, after the recent public information that questions its work, and has warned that "a scenario of social alarm is being generated that directly affects users and their families".

The association of people with disabilities of Lanzarote (Adislan) has more than half a century of experience in the care of people with disabilities in Lanzarote and its activity, they say, "is developed under the control and supervision mechanisms established by the competent administrations".

In this regard, the Cabildo considers that the statements disseminated in recent days "respond to a strategy that seeks to erode public management in social matters, using for this purpose a consolidated entity in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, with the consequent detriment to workers, users and family environment".

The president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, points out that “one cannot play with the peace of mind of families nor with the work of professionals who have been attending to people with disabilities for decades. Lanzarote has a care system that works, that is supervised and that is continuously evaluated.”

For his part, the counselor of Social Welfare and Inclusion, Marci Acuña, reminds that “the Cabildo rigorously complies with the supervision of all contracts linked to social care services, through a specific unit that continuously evaluates the quality of care spaces”.

Likewise, he adds that “the social policies being developed on the island are based on verifiable facts, on audited contracts and on services provided under public control. Generating baseless doubts about these resources has direct consequences for those who most need stability.”

Acuña explains that “that supervision is permanent and allows detecting, correcting, and improving any aspect of the service. In the case of Adislan, as with the rest of the entities working on the island, there is constant technical monitoring that guarantees compliance with regulations and the quality of care. Likewise, the autonomous community competent in the inspection of centers and services carries out periodic inspections, which are added to the supervisions carried out by the Social Welfare Area in relation to the fulfillment of the social agreement, through the unit for monitoring and supervision of public places, whose elimination occurred in the previous legislature”.

The island Institution insists that "the dissemination of unverified information causes a direct impact on the trust of families and on the well-being of users, while affecting the reputation of the professionals who provide the service".
