The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, and the island councilor of Public Works, Alfredo Mendoza, have personally visited the latest works of integral renovation of the traffic light network of Arrecife, some works awarded for 1.5 million euros.
“The completion of the works is a good news for the safety of pedestrians and drivers of the island's capital, who have suffered for decades the service of some signals with connection problems due to obsolete wiring, with bad aesthetics and often inoperative”, said the president about this project already completed, noting then that the works have been carried out in the expected execution time, one year.
“The Cabildo of Lanzarote now leaves the maintenance of this new infrastructure in the hands of the City Council, as we have done after completing many other projects during this term in the city... What we ask now is that they be diligent in the care of these new facilities that the neighborhood demands for a modern city like Arrecife should be”, Corujo details.
Adaptation to current regulations
The renovation works have involved the adaptation to the current regulations of almost two hundred (194) traffic lights spread over almost twenty areas of the capital. “The collaboration of the Cabildo through this integral replacement of traffic lights is already leading to greater fluidity in traffic, which saves consumption; while also improving the energy efficiency of the network system”, said Councilor Alfredo Mendoza.
The executed works have included the complete renovation of traffic lights -with their columns, booms and corresponding accessories- as well as the replacement of the cabinets containing the control panels of the signals and the change of the low voltage network pipes of these traffic light sets
