The Cabildo approves aid for more than 830,000 euros for the sports sector of Lanzarote

The Island Institution will grant these benefits to a total of 237 clubs, sports entities and elite athletes of the island

The Cabildo of Lanzarote has approved a package of subsidies for the sports sector of the island. The Island Institution will grant these benefits worth 835,560.54 euros to a total of 237 clubs, sports entities and elite athletes of Lanzarote, with the aim of supporting the travel of athletes and teams, the growth of sports schools.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, highlighted the effort made by the Administration to carry out fundamental benefits for elite athletes and entities that need them to continue their growth.

“We have more and more young people who are excelling in their disciplines and many of these, as well as their clubs, need a boost from the institutions to develop and reap more and more successes, and that is why we enable this item and approve these aids as quickly as possible,” the president detailed.

The Minister of Sports, Alfredo Mendoza, welcomed the approval of more than 230 applications and explained that 20 of these correspond to the promotion of sports clubs that participate in official competitions of base categories of soccer and indoor soccer, distributing among these 60,560.55 euros.

Secondly, 424,999.99 euros will be allocated to support travel to competitions of regional, national and international scope of 88 athletes and clubs of the Island.

For sports schools, the Cabildo will subsidize the 72 applicants with 300,000 euros. Finally, the 57 high competition athletes with approved applications will receive 50,000 euros among all of them.
