The PP of Tías denounces the "incoherence" of the PSOE in the management of telephone antennas

The Popular Party of Tías has denounced the "incoherence" of the Socialist Party in the management of telephone antennas after the ruling that favors the San Bartolomé City Council in its opposition to the installation of a telecommunications infrastructure in Güime.

For the councilor and president of the PP of Tías, Francisco Aparicio, the judicial action highlights that "when there is political will, city councils can defend their competencies and seek solutions to protect the interests of their neighbors," an attitude that, in his opinion, "has been conspicuous by its absence in the case of Masdache."

"The PSOE of San Bartolomé celebrates that Justice supports its actions because it understands that it must defend its neighbors. However, the PSOE of Tías, with its mayor at the head, has been saying the opposite for months: that it can do nothing, that the law obliges it, and that there is no alternative," states Aparicio.

The Popular Party of Tías recalls that since the beginning of the conflict in Masdache, the neighbors have expressed their rejection of an installation of these dimensions due to the impact it generates on the environment, demanding that other options be studied that would allow guaranteeing mobile coverage without affecting the landscape and the quality of life of the area in the same way.

"The problem has never been guaranteeing coverage. No one questions the need for good telecommunications services. What we question is that the City Council has assumed the installation of a large tower as the only option and has told the neighbors that the municipal administration had no capacity to act," he affirms.

Aparicio insists that the regulations "oblige to guarantee access to telecommunications, but do not impose the type of infrastructure." "The obligation of a city council is not to look the other way, but to defend the general interest and seek a balance between public services, the territory, and the neighbors."

The PP of Tías considers that the ruling known in San Bartolomé "further highlights the lack of involvement of the mayor of Tías with the neighbors of Masdache." "We are not asking for the same to be done in all municipalities; we are asking for the same sensitivity and the same determination when neighbors demand to be heard," adds Aparicio.

"The PSOE cannot defend one thing in San Bartolomé and the opposite in Tías. The residents of Masdache deserve the same attention and the same defense as any other resident of Lanzarote," concludes Francisco Aparicio.
