The Teguise City Council has reported that it will "strengthen the dynamization of municipal markets with a hiring that will allow a better organization of activities in these public spaces." "With this action, the public will be offered musical, folkloric performances or tastings of local products," they add from the Government of the Consistory.

This hiring affects the operation of the Sunday market in the Villa de Teguise, consolidating itself as "one of the most important in Spain", as well as the Costa Teguise market, both the artisan and the agricultural market, and the La Graciosa market. It should also be noted that, with the implementation of this new contract, folklore in the municipality has been revitalized, expanding the participation of cultural associations.

The mayor, Olivia Duque, values the dynamization of the network of municipal markets, with the implementation of different activities, such as musical, folkloric performances or tastings of local products. In addition, she anticipates that this action will allow us to publicize “our cultural, artistic and enogastronomic wealth among those who visit us."

“The commitment to dynamizing municipal markets is vital to keep them active and to attract visitors to our municipality, a fact that also has a positive impact on the influx to our museums and public spaces," the mayoress points out.

In addition, the mayoress states that, specifically, the Villa de Teguise market, with an average of 10,000 visitors every Sunday and with more than 450 stalls of handicrafts, agricultural products, pastries or antiques, "has become a consolidated event, of great tourist attraction, which generates a significant economic impact not only among vendors but also in the commercial and restaurant fabric of the area."

The councilor responsible for the Markets Area, Eugenio Robayna, highlights that "for the first time, we are processing a tender of these characteristics from the City Council to improve the operation and organization of the network of municipal markets, a fact that will undoubtedly contribute to improving the services provided and to the dynamization of the markets."

Eugenio Robayna emphasizes that "the needs demanded by the markets are of utmost importance. On the one hand, there is the administrative management carried out by the City Council workers and, on the other hand, there are the external services, such as transport, placement and removal of traffic signs, information posters, or the cleaning service itself, medical health care, or dynamization, coordination and management services, among others."

With this initiative, different personnel will be hired, including cleaning, security and support personnel, in addition to an engineer, a doctor, several health workers, an ambulance driver and a veterinarian, among others.

However, the street signage and access control hours will be extended to 6:00 a.m. and the collection hours to 4:00 p.m. so that visitors can enjoy the folklore and culture offered by the town for even longer. For better mobility and transit of people, a safe sidewalk will be incorporated to reach the municipal market.

The contract has begun with the presence of a fixed ambulance, veterinary personnel for food control, professionals in the field of engineering for structural certifications of the tents, the purchase of cones and new fences for the signage of the town. Most of the parking lots are located on Bentejui, Avenida Gran Aldea and José Betancort streets. All this material serves to improve accessibility and transit of people.
