The Teguise City Council inaugurated last Sunday, March 2, the sculptural ensemble in tribute to the women of La Graciosa, commissioned to the renowned artist Rigoberto Camacho Pérez. The work, made in bronze, is located in the Caleta de Sebo dock area and represents a symbol of the strength and sacrifice of the women who have been essential for the survival of the island.

During the inauguration, the mayoress of Teguise, Olivia Duque, highlighted the meaning of this tribute demanded by the citizens and pointed out that "today we commemorate the women of La Graciosa, whose lives and efforts have been key to the history of our island."

"This work is a before and after in the recognition of their fundamental role and, from the government group, we are very proud that it is already part of the landscape of La Graciosa," said the first mayor.

Rigoberto Camacho Pérez has been in charge of carrying out other works in the municipality, such as the historical complex of La Villa and in other locations in the town that symbolize the popular roots and dedication of the people of Teguise.

In addition, this sculptural presentation included the participation and entertainment of the musical group Bohemia, kicking off the events for International Women's Day, which will be celebrated this Saturday, March 8.

With this inauguration, the Council "continues working on the valorization of the cultural heritage of the municipality, always highlighting the traditions and figures that have shaped the local identity."
