The cemeteries of Villa de Teguise, Tao, Guatiza and the cemetery of La Graciosa will show their best image to receive the residents of the municipality who, as every year and as indicated by the liturgical calendar, will celebrate the commemoration of the Faithful Departed. For this purpose, the City Council has been working for weeks on cleaning, tidying and setting up gardens and access areas to the five cemeteries in the municipality.
This Friday, the area's councillor, Eugenio Robayna, reported to the mayor of Teguise on the work being completed by the workers of the Teguise Employment Plan, who have been entrusted with maintenance and conservation tasks of these infrastructures in days when numerous visits and expressions of affection are expected to loved ones who rest in the cemeteries of Teguise.
From Friday, October 30, until Sunday, November 1, they will all remain open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., but with certain restrictions dictated by the Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote in order to avoid crowds and possible infections.
In that sense, first of all it is recommended not to go to cemeteries if you have symptoms of suffering from Covid19. Also, during the visit it is mandatory to wear a mask (with nose and mouth covered), respect the interpersonal safety distance at all times and extreme hand hygiene during the visit.
The Consortium has a Covid information and assistance telephone number for citizens (900 112 061), however, the Teguise City Council appeals to common sense. "Everything is ready to face the All Saints' Day, with a protocol to follow and with all the necessary measures in hygienic-sanitary security required by the current situation due to the coronavirus pandemic -said Oswaldo Betancort during his visit-, recalling "that individual responsibility will mark from now on the success of each of the events that take place in the municipality, and that the capacity for adaptation and respect towards the recommendations will result in a return to normality that allows us to resume our usual activity and our customs with all the guarantees".
