The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of the Government of Spain has sent the START team of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, known as red vestsas well as 44 professionals who will travel to a field hospital in the Caribbean country.

This Tuesday marks one week since the 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes that shook Venezuela.

The START team (acronym for Spanish Technical Aid Response Team) is a health response team that is ready to deploy in humanitarian emergencies anywhere in the world.

This team is capable of setting up an operational hospital in 36 hours, has advanced surgical capacity and is highly specialized. The START has already been deployed in other earthquakes such as the recent earthquake that shook Syria and Turkey, in 2023; a hurricane in Jamaica, in 2025; or the floods in Mozambique, in 2026.

Along with the human team, the Government of Spain has also sent a new package of 300,000 euros for shelter material. This was reported by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Álbares.
