Pedro Sánchez has presented this Wednesday in Congress a new proposal to end "disinformation and hoaxes" in the media. A Democratic Action Plan that is based on measures to "strengthen democracy", said the President of the Government of Spain. An initiative that will affect three specific areas: the executive and legislative power and the media.

One of the main ideas that the current president of Spain has shown is to reform the Institutional Advertising Law, with the aim of putting "transparency" in that financing with public resources of those digital media that barely have readers, according to EFE.

According to the proposed regulations, the media must follow a series of measures to set new standards of transparency on ownership, audience measurement and the allocation of institutional advertising. In addition to the obligation of each medium to report who its owners are and the public funding they receive, the name of the shareholders and the audience figures.

Another of the actions that will be implemented with the regulations will be the limitation of the financing that administrations can dedicate to the media so that there is no one that has more public financiers than readers.

Also from the Government it has been announced that it will launch an "aid package of one hundred million euros" for the digitalization of the media.

Some rules that are based on the Media Freedom Act, a regulation recently approved in the European Parliament.
