The Head of Government, Pedro Sánchez, and his Portuguese counterpart, Antonio Costa, will preside on March 15 in Lanzarote the 34th summit between both countries, in which, in addition to analyzing bilateral relations, they will address pending issues on the European agenda.
Spain and Portugal periodically hold a summit of these characteristics, usually every year, headed by their Heads of Government and several of their ministers.
On this occasion, it is Spain's turn to organize it after it was held last year in the Portuguese town of Viana do Castelo, and Sánchez has decided that it will be on the Canary Island of Lanzarote where it will be held, specifically in Los Jameos el Agua.
The summit will focus on the day of March 15, but the day before Sánchez and Costa will visit the House-Museum of José Saramago.
Less than four months before Spain assumes the semi-annual presidency of the European Union, the priorities of that mandate will be one of the main issues to be discussed at the meeting.
To learn about the positions of the other leaders on issues that are being negotiated in the EU and that should be finalized or closed during the Spanish presidency, Sánchez is touring several European countries.
