San Ginés votes against his own motion to be given another turn to speak in the Plenary Session

The former president of the Cabildo and spokesman for CC in the institution, Pedro San Ginés, has once again voted against a motion presented by his own group to be able to have a third turn to speak and rebut the president, María Dolores Corujo.

"In order to have this turn to speak, I have to change the meaning of my vote, which will be against being in favor", Pedro San Ginés pointed out, thus recognizing that what he was looking for was to be able to speak more minutes, after having exhausted the two turns established by the regulations to defend and debate a motion.

On this occasion, his party's initiative intended to ask the Government of the Canary Islands to include an item in the 2020 General Budgets to co-finance the Archaeological Museum, which was promoted under his presidency and which, years after the announced date, remains unopened.

The initiative has had the votes against of Lanzarote en Pie-Sí Podemos and the government group, which has stated that it will not commit more funds to the Archaeological Museum "until it has the absolute certainty that they will serve to open this property", since the Arrecife General Plan does not allow that use. In fact, that is what has prevented the works that are still pending from being undertaken, and that for the moment have shot the budget to 5 million euros. "Lest we continue trying to fill a bottomless bag, which is what it has become for the moment", pointed out the spokesman for the PSOE, Margos Bergaz.

This is the second time that Pedro San Ginés has decided not to support at the last moment a motion from his own party to be able to speak again in the plenary session. Last October, when it was approved to initiate the file to eliminate the fuel tax that was implemented under his presidency, he changed the meaning of his vote and abstained in order to also be able to rebut in that case the vice president of the institution, Jacobo Medina.
