San Bartolomé will approve the Municipal Catalog of Cultural Heritage Assets

The San Bartolomé City Council has commissioned the drafting of the document of the Municipal Catalog of Cultural Heritage Assets of the municipality.

This document updates the protection of the assets included in the municipal heritage protection instruments in force and merges all the protection figures of the movable, immovable, intangible manifestations of the aboriginal populations of the Canary Islands, of popular and traditional culture, that have historical, artistic, architectural, archaeological, ethnographic, bibliographic, documentary, linguistic, landscape, industrial, scientific, technical or any other cultural nature in a single Municipal Catalog.

From the consistory they point out that "it will allow the Municipal Historical Heritage Service to effectively and agilely address the protection, conservation, restoration and remodeling of the municipal cultural heritage, thus guaranteeing the real use and enjoyment of it by the population".

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, has pointed out that this catalog, as an instrument of municipal planning, "is a fundamental step to allow protecting, conserving and preserving those assets with relevant values ​​that our municipality has".

In addition, he pointed out that, to promote the broadest citizen participation, a Participation Program will be carried out, in line with the objectives of the UN's 2030 Horizon on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (New Urban Agenda).

The objective of the Participation Program is to collect the contributions or proposals of citizens, representatives of administrations, technicians and economic agents, in the development and drafting of the document from the beginning and throughout the process, facilitating the processing of the plan and subsequent implementation of its determinations, as well as trying to resolve social conflicts through a complex, open and well-dynamized program.

In this document, which has been commissioned to the public company Gestión y Planeamiento Territorial y Medioambiental (Gesplan), the assets with municipal protection of San Bartolomé will be included, among which are the church of San Bartolomé; the Casa Mayor Guerra; the Casa Ajei; the Molina de Don Juan Armas; the Molino de Don José María Gil; the Ajei archaeological zone, the Guaticea Paleontological Zone; the El Campesino House Museum; the Arencibia Rocha House; and the Espinosa Ortega House.

Together with them, the most relevant archaeological sites, the municipal paleontological sites, the places and properties with values, such as the eras or the most outstanding cisterns from an ethnographic point of view.
