The San Bartolomé City Council has officially transferred to the Department of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands the comprehensive reform project of the pavilion of the Secondary Education Institute (IES) of San Bartolomé, a priority action, according to the council, which has as its objective the improvement of a key infrastructure for the educational and sports activity of the center.

This proposal already has favorable technical and legal reports, which they have defended "guarantees its viability and its adaptation to current regulations", awaiting to be able to count on funding for its execution, whose budget is estimated at 465,000 euros.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, has highlighted that “this project is the result of serious prior planning and well-structured technical work, which allows taking a firm step to advance in the improvement of the municipality's educational facilities, thus fulfilling the commitments acquired by the government team with public and quality education”.

Likewise, Pérez has emphasized the importance of the coordination maintained with the Consejería de Educación del Gobierno de Canarias, led by Poli Suárez, to continue advancing in the execution of priority actions.

In the words of the Councilor for Urban Planning and Project Coordination of the San Bartolomé City Council, Marlene Romero, she stated that “collaboration between both administrations is essential to provide an adequate response to the needs of all citizens.” Romero also indicates that “the pavilion project contemplates a renovation of this facility with the aim of improving its functionality, safety, and adaptation to the current needs of students and teachers, guaranteeing more modern and efficient spaces.

A second project in the CEIP Ajei

In parallel, the San Bartolomé City Council has also presented to the Department of Education of the autonomous executive a second intervention project at the CEIP Ajei, focused on the improvement of the oldest classrooms of the center, popularly known as “the birdhouses”.

This action, likewise supported by favorable technical and legal reports, is framed within the municipal strategy of progressive renovation of the educational infrastructures of the municipality and which are added to other actions already put in place.

Thus, for example, the government team led by Isidro Pérez and with the competences in Education in charge of councilwoman Estefanía Luzardo, has been working on the renovation of the pavement of the multi-purpose hall of the CEIP de Playa Honda, the improvement works of the Municipal Infant School Amparo Rodríguez, as well as in the expansion of shade areas of the CEIP Ajei and the construction of the future CEIP Alcalde Alexis Tejera Lemes, an infrastructure highly demanded by the citizenry with which it will bolster public education in the municipality.

Mayor Isidro Pérez recalls that the commitment of the San Bartolomé City Council with education is firm and continuous, with actions with which to respond to the demands of the educational community.
