The San Bartolomé City Council completes the urbanization of Unit of Action 10 and puts 45,000 square meters of industrial land on the market with full legal guarantees.

After eleven months of execution, the urbanization works of Unit of Action 10, a strategic plot of land located in the industrial area of Playa Honda, covering a total area of 45,000 square meters, were officially received this Friday.

With this development, the municipality of San Bartolomé notably increases its available industrial land capacity, consolidating a key space for the establishment of new companies and economic activities in Lanzarote with all the guarantees this entails for future investments.

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted that "this project demonstrates that when administrations and owners work hand in hand, results are achieved that generate real opportunities for employment and economic growth for the municipality".

Pérez also emphasized that "San Bartolomé now offers urbanized industrial land, with legal certainty and in a strategic location close to the island's airport, which places us in a very competitive position to attract investment and as an investment hub for the development of Lanzarote".

For her part, the Councilor for Urban Planning, Marlene Romero, pointed out that "the completion of this development is the result of years of technical, legal work, and constant dialogue with the Compensation Board," recalling that "in 2020 the municipal plenary session approved the change of the execution system from public to private, with the joint commitment to develop this important industrial land reserve."In this regard, he emphasizes that it is a long-awaited project, not only for its economic relevance but also because "it allows direct connection, via paved road, between the town of Güime and the industrial area of Playa Honda, improving mobility and territorial cohesion."

As a consequence of the planning and mandatory land transfers established by law, the San Bartolomé City Council becomes the owner of a 3,000-square-meter plot of free industrial land, valued at nearly 1.8 million euros, in addition to 6,000 square meters of common areas and green spaces, which are also incorporated into the municipal assets.

It should be recalled that, although the replanning and urbanization projects were definitively approved in 2022, the start of the works was delayed by nearly a year due to the conflict with Endesa regarding access to the electricity distribution network. It was not until the favorable resolution of the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) that the situation could be unblocked and the development of the area resumed, in a process in which the City Council and the Compensation Board acted in a coordinated manner.

With the reception of these works, San Bartolomé reaffirms its commitment to the orderly development of industrial and commercial planning in Playa Honda, making an urbanized, connected space available to the business community, with all the necessary legal guarantees to attract new investments and generate sustainable economic activity.
