The San Bartolomé City Council informs of the opening of the application submission period for the Transport and Accommodation Grants corresponding to the 2025-2026 academic year, a call endowed with a total of 350,000 euros that this year incorporates an important improvement by increasing the maximum amount per student from 1,000 to 1,200 euros.

With this increase, the City Council "reaffirms the commitment made to the educational community and maintains San Bartolomé as the municipality in Lanzarote that grants the highest amount of aid to support students who pursue their studies outside the municipality or the island".

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted that "we are fulfilling the commitment we made to our students and their families by increasing these grants to 1,200 euros. We know the significant economic effort involved in continuing education outside the municipality and we want to continue to be by the side of those who bet on their future".

Isidro Pérez stressed that "San Bartolomé once again positions itself as the municipality in Lanzarote that allocates the largest amount to this type of scholarship, a decision that responds to our firm commitment to equal opportunities and to ensuring that no young person has to give up their studies for economic reasons".

For her part, the Councilor for Education, Estefanía Luzardo, pointed out that "these grants constitute a fundamental tool to support families in the municipality and to ensure that our students can develop their education with greater guarantees, regardless of where they have to pursue their studies".

The councilor added that "we have wanted to reinforce this call by increasing the maximum amount because we understand that the costs associated with transport and accommodation continue to grow. Our objective is to continue adapting these grants to the reality of families and to offer increasingly useful and effective economic support".

Publication of the call

The call has been published this Wednesday, July 15, in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas (https://www.boplaspalmas.net), in correspondence with its publication in the National Database of Subsidies: https://www.infosubvenciones.es/bdnstrans/GE/es/convocatoria/918825. The application submission period will be from July 16 to August 27

Applications may be submitted in person at the General Registry of the City Council, located at Plaza León y Castillo, as well as at the Municipal Offices of Playa Honda, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, or through the municipal electronic headquarters.

Beneficiaries and types of aid

The beneficiaries will be resident students (registered for a minimum of 12 months at the time of the call for applications) who are pursuing official studies of Baccalaureate, Vocational Training Cycle, and University Studies, in authorized public or private/concerted centers, outside the municipality of San Bartolomé.

The aid is divided into two lines. On the one hand, that for transport, aimed at students pursuing official studies outside the municipality or the island; and, on the other, that for accommodation for those who must move their residence to continue their studies outside of Lanzarote.

Both lines are compatible with each other, as well as with other public or private subsidies, with each student being able to receive a maximum aid of 1,200 euros, provided they meet the requirements established in the call for applications.

The San Bartolomé City Council encourages students and their families to submit their applications within the foreseen deadline and reminds them that they can obtain all information and resolve any doubts through the Department of Education or the municipal website.

With this new call for applications, the San Bartolomé City Council continues to reinforce its commitment to education as one of the fundamental pillars of the municipality's development, facilitating access to higher education and contributing to ensuring that no student's future is limited for economic reasons.
