The San Bartolomé Town Hall grants twelve new taxi licenses, thus expanding the capacity of the discretionary public transport service in the municipality.
This Thursday, the completion of this administrative procedure was approved in plenary session, which will allow the use and services of ten licenses for adapted vehicles and two ordinary ones.
After carrying out a thorough, detailed and longitudinal socioeconomic study over time during 2023, it was determined that it was necessary to increase the number of licenses in San Bartolomé, which allows the municipality to currently have a total of 84 taxi licenses.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, explains that all of them are granted by virtue of the provisions of the regulatory bases and that "with said concession, this government team continues to take firm steps to improve the quality of the taxi service in the municipality."
In this sense, the Councilor for Transportation, Raúl de León, states that it is not the only measure to offer greater quality in this area, since this concession is added to "the modification of the regulations to give legal coverage to the sector itself in specific moments of maximum demand, being able to request help from taxis from other cooperatives, as well as the regulation of shifts so as not to see any stop within the municipality unattended at any time."
In fact, the councilor has pointed out that the taxi sector in San Bartolomé is valued by users "as one of the best in Lanzarote."
