The San Bartolomé City Council has been a **finalist in the Canarias Promueve Salud Distinction initiative**, an award that was presented this Wednesday as part of the VII Regional Meeting of Health-Promoting Islands and Municipalities, held at the Corralejo Auditorium, in FuerteventuraThe mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, valued this nomination as "a satisfaction for the municipality and a confirmation that investing in community, in human relations and in health from a social perspective is the right path". In this regard, he highlighted that "intergenerationality allows us to strengthen neighborhood ties, combat unwanted loneliness and move towards a more cohesive and healthy community".For her part, the councilor for Intercultural Community Intervention Projects (ICI), Ana María Lopes, underlined that “these projects are born from joint work with citizens, educational centers, associations, and public services, understanding intergenerationality as a transformative tool that values both the experience of older people and the creativity and energy of the younger population”.Lopes added that "being finalists for the Canary Islands Health Promotes Distinction reinforces our commitment to continue designing public policies focused on people, community participation, and health promotion from an integral, inclusive, and sustainable perspective".

The recognition comes thanks to the project Bonds that weave community: intergenerationality as a tool for community development, an initiative that stems from the conviction that relationships between generations not only strengthen social bonds, but also constitute a key tool for the promotion of health, collective well-being, and community development
This project is structured around four main axes of health promotion: physical exercise, healthy eating, sustainable development, and mental health. In this edition, the jury particularly valued the council's drive for intergenerationality as a strategic axis of its public policies, as well as its capacity to foster citizen participation, active aging, social cohesion, and the exchange of knowledge and experiences between generations.
Within this framework, different municipal projects and actions are developed, such as the Appointment between generations, Intergenerational physical conditioning, the Orinautas project: Roots and fruits, the Science Gathering, the sporting event Chinijo Challenge, the I Intergenerational Encounter, or the A tu salud comunitaria videopodcast, among others. Initiatives that aim to generate spaces for meeting, mutual learning, and collective construction of community well-being
