The Cabildo of Lanzarote approved last Friday in plenary the adhesion of the Víctor Fernández Gopar Theater “El Salinero” to the Spanish Network Association of Theaters, Auditoriums, Circuits and Festivals of Public Ownership. With this agreement, the island's main stage space is integrated into a national network that will strengthen its cultural programming and establish cooperation ties with other public infrastructures throughout the country.
The Culture Councilor of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jesús Machín Tavío, highlighted the importance of this step. “Integrating into the Spanish Theater Network means opening new collaboration opportunities, enriching programming and consolidating El Salinero as a cultural reference that connects Lanzarote with the main public stages in Spain,” he said.
For his part, the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, stressed the strategic nature of this decision and stressed that “the Cabildo is committed to a cultural model that places the island on the national and international map. The incorporation of El Salinero into this network will allow us to bring more quality proposals, supporting the artistic and economic sectors of the island.”
Cultural reference
Dependent on the INAEM (National Institute of Performing Arts and Music), the Spanish Network of Theaters, Auditoriums, Circuits and Festivals of Public Ownership is a reference platform in the cultural field that brings together more than a hundred institutions from all over the country.
Its objective is to promote cooperation between public theaters, promote the mobility of shows, favor citizen access to culture and support contemporary artistic creation.
With this adhesion, the Víctor Fernández Gopar Theater “El Salinero” of Arrecife is integrated into a national circuit of programming, projects and training that will contribute to enriching the cultural life of the island, while strengthening the projection of Lanzarote as a territory committed to culture and the performing arts.
