The Popular Party's candidate for Mayor of Tinajo, Ramon Ortiz, has presented the team that will accompany him for the next four years in a public act in Mancha Blanca in which he was accompanied by the president of the PP of Lanzarote and head of the list to Parliament, Astrid Pérez; the candidate for the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, and also supported by numerous residents of the municipality.
Ortiz explained that he has a prepared team, “that lives and knows the municipality and that, above all, wants to work for and for its residents.” “They are people who love this municipality and who do not resign themselves to the paralysis in which it has been falling year after year, term after term due to the lack of management,” said Ortiz, who defends that the time has come for change in Tinajo and “for the policies of the Popular Party to arrive and be applied from the municipal government.”
In this sense, he pointed out that during the next four years, a good part of the efforts will be focused on promoting attention to the most vulnerable people, such as the elderly, and on demanding from the competent administration the 24-hour ambulance service, which remains a priority and pending issue, as is also the case with the updating of the 2004 General Plan and its adaptation to the new regulations of the Land Law. “Tinajo has already lost a lot of time and the modification of the plan is an urgent issue if we really want to create the necessary conditions to boost the local economy and create employment,” said Ortiz, who recalls that Tinajo still does not have an industrial area to attract investments and promote the establishment of companies within the municipality.
Likewise, the candidate showed his commitment to the primary sector and the need to be vigilant and fight to carry out the project to improve irrigation systems and water supply without continuous interruptions.
The candidate did not overlook the problems that are generated in the access to the Islote de Hilario and the work that has to be done from the City Council so that an outdoor parking lot is enabled as soon as possible and the Cabildo launches a shuttle service that ends the queues and guarantees road safety. The promotion of annual active leisure programs for young people and the recovery of the La Santa hostel for the enjoyment of all were other measures presented by Ramon Ortiz.
Regarding this last proposal, the councilor of the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, also spoke, stating that this will also be the objective of the PP when it reaches the presidency of the island institution on May 28.
“One thing is that the hostel was used to house young immigrants in an emergency situation and on a provisional basis, and quite another is that five years later it has become the permanent solution,” said Jacobo Medina, who acknowledged that more than enough time has passed for the government of Sánchez and the Government of the Canary Islands, which oversees young immigrants, to have enabled more suitable facilities for their care.
Commitment that was also assumed by the island president and head of the list to Parliament for the Lanzarote constituency, Astrid Pérez, “because the issue of irregular immigration concerns us all and also the future regional government formed by Manolo Domínguez.” Pérez, pointed out that during the last four years they have been insisting systematically that “in immigration matters, the Canary Islands cannot continue to look the other way and ignore that islands like Lanzarote are bearing the weight of immigration without having all the necessary resources.”
“Since 2020, the arrival of boats to our coasts has not stopped growing and the response of the socialist governments has always been the same: the lack of response,” said Pérez, who has also addressed during her speech the problems that affect health on the island. “Do not doubt it, Ramón -said Perez- that the next government of the Popular Party will be sensitive to the health needs of Tinajo, so sooner rather than later the 24-hour ambulance service will be a reality for the residents.”
