The Tías City Council has renovated the video surveillance system of the waste collection spaces in Puerto del Carmen through a system of 21 cameras that monitor the waste compactors for 24 hours uninterrupted and allow data to be stored for a period of four days.

The installed cameras are located in the streets Doramas, Frankfurt, Sweden, England, Malvas, Terrero, Nicaragua, Tanausú, Guanapay, Cenobio, Graciosa, Juan Carlos I, San Borondón, Plutón, Ireland, Pedro Barba, Ancla (two), Teide and shopping centers Biosfera and Matagorda.

The CCTV video surveillance system of Puerto del Carmen has been completely changed because "the existing cameras already presented much deterioration due to the marine environment, meteorological clemency, age and obsolescence and it was necessary to replace them with new systems in their entirety through the company Técnicas Competitivas", the city council has reported.

The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz and the councilor of urban waste management, Carmen Gloria Rodríguez, explain that "the recording and data transmission system was already obsolete, because only images were recorded when there was movement and had many video to video jumps and with a high level of interference and saturation".

These updating works were carried out by the company Técnicas Competitivas at no additional cost. "The City Council is in the process of signing a contract with this company for the maintenance of the cameras for the correct operation of these and to be able to make use of the images", they concluded from the city council.
