The Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands, directed by Pablo Rodríguez, through the Vice-Ministry of Infrastructure of the Government of the Canary Islands, has commissioned the public company Gestión y Planeamiento Territorial y Medioambiental SA, Gesplan, to manufacture samples and carry out tests of cement-derived products incorporating alternative materials from waste recycling at the Official Laboratory of Tenerife.

The assignment, which has a total budget of 323,210.24 euros and an execution period of 24 months, seeks to develop new products for the construction sector incorporating various waste materials of urban origin and also from the demolition of buildings in its manufacturing process.

In this sense, specialized operators will manufacture samples of construction products, such as concrete, mortar or masonry pieces, following technical specifications that include recycling proportions and manufacturing methods, as well as the corresponding tests.

For its part, the executing technician will supervise and organize the manufacturing and testing tasks, ensuring the availability of materials and verifying the equipment before the tests. In addition, he/she will be responsible for the digital recording of results and the continuous training of personnel to guarantee autonomy in the development of the tasks.

The contract will allow the Vice-Ministry to propose to the sector an advance in the line of the circular economy using a series of cement-derived products such as concrete and high-quality masonry pieces in which a high percentage of their components come from waste recycling.
