The Vice President and Head of Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, celebrated this Tuesday the great progress of the works of the underpass of the LZ-2 of Playa Honda, which will generate a new space that will unite the residential and industrial area of the town.

“Today the first phase of pushing the concrete box has finished and work is already being done on the execution of the opposite side,” said Medina, who visited the work during the day this Tuesday.

Medina stressed that the work “is advancing in leaps and bounds”, and that the push “is a historical milestone in the Canary Islands. It is the first time that this construction method has been used in the archipelago, very common in America and Asia and that speeds up the times when making underground tunnels,” Medina pointed out.

It should be remembered that the work was awarded by the Government of the Canary Islands to the company Señalizaciones Villar S.A. for a total amount of 3,813,768 euros, and a period of execution of six months is planned.

“I want to thank the Ministry of Public Works of the Government of the Canary Islands for betting on the modernization and improvement of the island roads,” said Medina, who also pointed out that this complements the Plan for the Reactivation of the Island Economy through the Public Works undertaken by the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
