The PSOE of Lanzarote has denounced that the award given by Mediaset to the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism in the category of "Best Gastronomic Promotion of Spain" cannot be understood apart from the more than 1.5 million euros in public contracts that the Entity has signed with the same chain. “It is a shame to present it as a spontaneous tribute and not as the result of a commercial relationship paid for with funds from all the people of Lanzarote”, said Benjamín Perdomo, councilor of the Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote and former head of the CACT.

A well-paid applause

“They call recognition what is actually a well-paid applause. The strange thing is that they have not taken advantage of the gala to name Ángel Vázquez or Oswaldo Betancort as favorite sons of Mediaset”, says Perdomo.

“Public money is not for buying awards, but to meet the real needs of the people. Lanzarote does not need more fireworks, but solutions”, they remark from the PSOE.

The party also recalls that these recognitions come just when the management of the CACT is being questioned for its lack of direction and for prioritizing showcase events over the recovery of the cultural, social and patrimonial value of the Centers.
