The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, and the councilor of Public Works, Ángel Lago, held a meeting last week with the Head of the Demarcation of Coasts of the Canary Islands, Alberto Martín Coronel, to explain to the highest authority of this provincial body, dependent on the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, the detailed actions of the municipal project of modernization of the Playa Blanca Maritime Avenue.
These projects will be put out to tender as soon as the City Council has the mandatory authorization from the General Directorate of Coasts and Management of the Canarian Maritime Space of the Government of the Canary Islands.
Óscar Noda declares that “the project does not involve either expanding or changing the layout of the promenade, so we are satisfied that the Canary Islands Coastal Demarcation views it favorably. Now we only need the permission of the Government of the Canary Islands to tender and begin the execution of the works in phases, and fulfill our objective of rehabilitating it from the vicinity of the port of Playa Blanca to the Paseo de la Sal”.
The first phase, valued by Yaiza at 2.2 million euros, comprises the route between the Embajador hotel, at the height of the Fund Grube store, and the Paseo de la Sal, exactly at the point that separates the Playa Dorada and Barceló hotels. The total investment of the project, adding all its phases, exceeds five million euros.
The City Council plans an aesthetic and functional renovation of the promenade with a change of pavement and urban furniture, provision of shade and rest areas, an area designated for cultural performances, and replacement of public utility networks and lighting with a uniform design, among other actions.
