The tourist town of Playa Blanca once again surrendered to the magic of St. John's Night this Tuesday, June 23, with a celebration full of rhythm, music, dance, and shared emotions. Neighbors and visitors accompanied the parade of the Los Timanfeiros batucada, enjoyed live music from Grupo Bourbon and Punto de Fuga by the town beach, and kept alive the most popular traditions of this significant date.

The party began in the lower part of Limones street, where the contagious energy of the Los Timanfeiros batucada set the pace and passersby joined their procession. The sound of the drums grew in intensity as it advanced and turned towards the promenade, creating a festive atmosphere that led them to the town's small beach, which became the meeting point for the celebration.

There, the evening continued with performances by Grupo Bourbon and Punto de Fuga, bands that offered a wide repertoire of great national and international pop-rock hits, connecting with different
generations. Popular classics such as Chiquilla, by Seguridad Social; Suéltate el pelo, by Hombres G; A quién le importa, by Alaska; Rayando el Sol, by Maná; or Mamma Mia, by ABBA were played. More recent songs such as Soldadito marinero, by Fito y Fitipaldis, and Tequila y sal, by Julieta Venegas, were also featured, along with a special nod to Canarian music with the popular Pan y mantequilla by Efecto Pasillo.

The celebration was also not without sea baths, especially for the little ones, and the burning of wishes, fears, or what one wants to leave behind in small improvised fires in ice buckets and other containers, thus fulfilling some of the most deeply rooted traditions of the San Juan festivity.

The Councilor for Festivities of Yaiza, Daniel Medina, highlights that “Playa Blanca experienced a fantastic night, with great participation and an extraordinary atmosphere. San Juan has that ability to bring together neighbors and visitors around music, tradition, and shared joy.”
