The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has decided to cancel his public agenda for a few days to reflect on whether or not to resign from the head of the Executive after the complaint against his wife, Begoña Gómez, and will communicate his decision in a public appearance next Monday, April 29.
"I need to stop and reflect. I need to answer the question of whether it is worth it, despite the mud in which the right and the far right intend to turn politics. Whether I should continue at the head of the Government or renounce this high honor," he wrote in a letter sent to the citizens that he published on the social network X.
All scenarios are open, from resignation and the proposal of another candidate for investiture to a transition until elections can be called or a vote of confidence can be submitted. The socialist leader, always given to bold and unpredictable gestures, has consulted with very few people about this step and for the moment everything is unknown about the decision he will end up making. Several of his collaborators point out that he is "very touched" by an investigation into his wife that all socialists consider to be unfounded.
